Just finishing off my Xmas magazine stack by the bed there was a short piece about Evan Williams (of Blogger and Twitter fame).
His approach to developing new products and approaches is "what can we take away to make something new" ... and the examples are "removing all the clutter on the Yahoo home page 5 years ago gives you Google today" of "remove all the content from blogging except the point and you get Twitter".
I love it.
I'm going to start tomorrow and reduce, reduce, reduce. Particularly on the project management system implementation I'm running currently which is getting fat. Reduce the UI, reduce the complexity, reduce the difficulty.
In't it great when a short article changes the way you think about things!
